Delve deep into the wilderness of the Himachal Pradesh by visiting its most prominent hill stations-Dharamsala. Dharamsala promises to grip you with a beauty unrivalled, a beauty that is inexpressive in every aspect. In the true sense of the term Dharamsala is a paradise on earth. Divided into two parts; the upper Dharamsala or McLeod Ganj and Lower Dharamsala; it has been mesmerising the tourist with a number of intriguing tourist destinations. Dharamsala was founded in the year 1855 by the Bristish. One can find here a unique blend of the multi-faceted culture, spirituality and nature and sojourning in its midst will be an exhilarating experience. Far from the fever and fret of life, indulge in the splendour of Dharamsala and you will find cocooned in peace and comfort.

A large number of monasteries and temples throng the place, a number of scenic spot lay in its province all at the bay of the beautiful Himalayan ranges. Some of the places that are worth a visit at Dharamsala are Namgyal Monastery, McLeodganj, Tsuglagkhang, Norbulingka Institute, Bhagsunath temple, Dharamkot, Triund, Church of St. John, Triund, Dip Thekchen Choeling Monastery, Dal Lake, Chamunda Devi, Kangra Art Museum, Kangra Fort, Nurpur Fort, War Memorial etc.

While on your tour to Dharamsala make sure you visit the Dal Lake without fail. It is an artificial lake built in an oval shape, the fringes of which are adorned with fir trees. A stroll on the bank of this lake will bring you close to nature and all the beauty therein. The Macleod Ganj is home to Buddhist leader Dalai Lama. A number of monasteries and Tibetan schools swarm the place making Macleod Ganj the little ‘Lhasa of India’. There is also a temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, which is referred by the name of Chamunda Devi. The devout Hindus are seen frequenting the temple to seek the blessings of the Goddess Durga. In the wilderness of Dharamsala you will also find an Anglican church which has the remnants of Lord Elgin. The neo-Gothic style of architecture is explicitly exposed in the structure of the Church. If you want to go for an adventurous spree, Triund is just the perfect place as you can here indulge in trekking. If you want to acquaint yourself with the Tibetan culture and arts, then a visit to the Tibetan Institute is a must.

Nothing is as exciting and rejuvenating as exploring a new land. Dharamsala with so much to offer will surely leave you wanting for more.
