Perur Shiva Temple also called Perur Pateeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built by Pallayakarar kings during the time of Raja Raja Cholan. The devotees Arunagiri Nathar and Kachiappa Munivar had exposed the significance of this temple through their verses. This is a temple noted for its architectural and sculptural splendor. The Panguni Uthiram festival is celebrated here in grand manner.

The towers and mandapams are very impressive with ornamental pillars. There is a beautiful golden hall with golden image of Nataraja. The temple stands on the banks of river Noyyal and has two sacred trees called Irava Panai and Pirava Puli.
