The city of Bhilai is located in the Durg district of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. Apart from being the home to one of the largest steel plant of the country there is also a well developed industrial mining sector that stands to be the base of a well developed economy here. There is a diverse range of people that can be seen here as a result of the industrial development and presence of factories and companies. The cosmopolitan nature of the city has a traditional background too.

There are several places of interest and historical significance that attracts thousands of tourists here every year. However you can always take a tour of the steel plant that has a vast network of engineering structure to amaze you. Then there is the well known Maitribagh which was built as a commemoration of Indo-Russian friendship and collaboration. Take a trip through the zoo and see the white tigers that are seen here. There is also an amusement park for children and complemented with a toy train. There is also a water fountain which is the largest of its kind in Asia. This is also a venue for an annual flower show held every year.

There is a large number of temples that are also located in different parts of Bhilai city. These are dedicated to different gods of Hindu religion and some of these are also of Buddhist traditions. There is the old temple at Deobaloda at a distance of 3 kilometers. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is held in great esteem. There is another temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is situated at Sector 9.

Bhilai will also be able to keep you amply busy with its unique range of cuisine, picnic spots and shopping. Take trip to the river Tandula where a dam is built. It is appropriate for a day’s visit and is a picturesque place for a picnic. There are several places like balod, dhamda, siyadevi and nagpura among others that are well known for their auspicious temples, old forts and palaces. If you are crossing Dongargarh then there is the beautiful Hajra Falls that can be seen. This is a visual wonder of water falling from an impressive height of 150 feet.

There is also a wildlife sanctuary that you can visit at Barnawapara. This vast natural habitat is maintained for species like leopards, wild buffaloes, cheetal deers and the local langurs. There is also a vast range of bird species that you can see here apart from the trees and flowers.
