Ulsoor Lake also called as Halasuru Lake was one of the weekend retreats of Bangalore people. It is located in the eastern end of the city in the M. G. Road. The lake was built by Kempe Gowda II and this is the only existing lake built by them in Bangalore. The name was derived from the name of the jackfruit orchard nearby called Halasina Hannu.

The lake spreads over an area of 1.5 square kilometers and this nearby attraction in Bangalore is one of the centers of boating. The city drains and rainfall are the main inflows. To attract tourists into the place, the government has taken various steps like establishing the park and swimming pool, desilting the lake bed, diversion of the sewages, restoration of the aquatic life, boat training facility, etc.

The Ulsoor Lake is opened to public on all days except Wednesday from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. Ulsoor and CMH Road Bangalore Metro Rail stations are proposed to be located to access this place easily.
