Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens is situated in the southern Bangalore. The construction of this garden was started by Hyder Ali and was completed by his son Tipu Sultan. It has a glass house, an aquarium and a lake and is one of the important nearby attractions in Bangalore.

 

Lal Bagh means The Red Garden and it was created similar to the Mughal Gardens. It spreads over an area of 240 acres. Flower shows are held here occasionally to educate people about different species of flora. There are more than 1000 species of plants and there are tree here that are more than 100 years old.

 

Some rare species of plants brought from various parts of the world are grown here. The flowerbeds, lotus ponds and fountains are beautifully placed. Lal Bagh is easily accessible by BMTC buses from Majestic Circle and Shivaji Nagar. The buses heading to Jaya Nagar and Banashankari pass through this area.
