Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium was established in 1989 by the Bangalore City Corporation. It was later brought under the control of the Bangalore Association for Science Education. It serves to educate people about scientific facts. There is a Science Park established around the premises.

The diameter of the dome of the planetarium is 15 meters. It has a space master projector that projects the night sky, constellation pictures and panoramas on the dome. The exhibition halls and the sky theatre program attract the visitors. The astro-photographs and paintings of the galaxies are exhibited here.

The Science Park has the models of resonant swings, sun dial, huge kaleidoscope, whispering dishes and PSLV. The telescope building offers the observation of night sky. The public is allowed to view solar eclipses, comets and other planetary transits.
