Zubeen Garg Biography 
Zubeen Garg is a successful Indian playback singer and composer from Assam. His song, Ya Ali for Bollywood movie ‘Gangster’ was an instant hit. He has acquired cult fame East India over the last two-decades as a successful rock star. He is also known as an actor, lyricist, poet and director. He is also a musician who plays dhols, guitar, dotora, mandolin, keyboard and various percussion instruments. He has made special appearance in a couple of songs from the Bollywood movies - Big Brother and Gangster. As an actor his released movies include Ekhon Nedekha Nodir Xhipare, Tumi Mur Matho Mur, Mon Jai, Dinobandhu and Bhal Pabo Najanilu and all are in Assamese language. His upcoming movies as an actor include – Gaane ki aane, Rowdor Chithi and You Are Not My Julie. He is one of the top singers of the industry and has already sung 15000 songs.
Garg hails from Jorhat, Assam. His birth name is Zubeen Borthakur. His father Mohini Mohan Borthakur is a famous lyricist, poet and a magistrate. His mother Ily Borthakur was a dancer, actress and singer. Instead of opting these talents for a career, she taught these things to her son. Garg's younger sister Jongki Borthakur was a popular singer and actress who died in a car accident in 2002. Zubeen made an album known as SHISHU in memory of his late sister. Palme Borthakur, another sister of Zubeen is a bharatanatyam dancer who runs a dance academy.
Garg considers his mother to be his first guru and mentor. He learnt tabla from Guru Robin Banarjee and Assamese folk music from Guru Romoni Rai. He learnt to use many music instruments also. Now he is a busy Indian star who has already sung in more than 40 languages.
