Zerifa Wahid Biography

Zerifa Wahid is a popular actress of Assamese cinema, known by the name, “Leading Lady”. Apart from cinema, she is active in mobile theater and television. She has also launched her own production company, Zerifa Wahid Productions, thus becoming the first Assamese heroine to do so. Its sole aim is to promote theater and the performing arts in Assam. Wahid started her acting career as a child star in Abhimaan and later moved on to lead roles in cinema, television and theater. Most recently she featured in National award winning regional movie, Baandhon. This movie also received Best Indian Film at the Bengaluru International Film Festival. She received state award for best actress for her performance in the film Agnisakshi. Wahid is also a lawyer in profession and currently practises in the Guwahati High Court.

She holds post-graduation in History from Delhi University. She was the university topper during her history graduation, Guwahati. Later she completed Law and now practises in the Guwahati High Court. Assamese Feature film Abhimaan in the year 1990 marked her acting career as a child artist. Later she worked in ad films, music videos, television as well as Assamese cinema in lead actress role. Seuji Dharani Dhuniya, Anya Ek Jatra, Antaheen Jatra, Gun Gun Gane Gane, Agnisakhi, Nayak, Kadambari, Prem Geet, Deuta Diya Bidai and Ahir Bhaira are her successful movies in lead role.

She is also known for her social works. Zerifa is the Ambassador for Assam Autism Foundation and Special Olympics Bharat (Assam Chapter). Her own production company is named as Zerifa Wahid Productions. Agnibrishti, Nagamandala and Purush are her noted stage plays and she stages many plays under her production banner.
