Zakir Hussain (actor) Biography

Zakir Hussain is a popular actor of Bollywood and television known for portraying character roles. He is active in Bollywood since mid-2000’s. He is a well-known face in the recent times and he portrays comic roles most, apart from serious roles. He also plays negative shaded roles. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Phoonk, Johnny Gaddaar, Shor in the City and Sarkaar are his well-noticed works. He played the comic role of Officer Godhpole in 2013 Shahid Kapoor movie, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. Paan Singh Tomar, Agent Vinod, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story, Enemmy and Maazai are his latest releases. He played the role of Kamarudeen in Vijay starrer Tamil movie, Thuppakki.

Hussain belongs to Meerut, UP. During his college days at Delhi he got attracted to the world of theatre and cinema. Thus he joined theater as a stage actor and also joined the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and prestigious NSD, New Delhi to learn acting. He graduated from NSD in 1993 and reached Mumbai where he started his career as a television actor. He played character roles in television serials like Firdaus, Kitty Party and Gaatha, through which he got recognized.

Sriram Raghavan's thriller starring Saif Ali Khan and Urmila was his debut movie in Bollywood. The movie was produced by Ram Gopal Varma and through his small role of Sanjeev Nanda he was able to impress the producer who offered him more roles in his production ventures. Most of them are horror movies like Darna Zaroori Hai, Vaastu Shastra, Phook, Phoonk 2. He also appeared in RGV’s action movies like Sarkar, D, Contract etc. Sriram is also a musician and a singer.
