Yuvraj Valmiki Biography

Yuvraj Valmiki is an Indian sportsman who plays the game of hockey. He was one of the members of the Indian team that won 2011 Asian Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy.

 

Yuvraj was born on 25th November 1990 in Mumbai in Maharashtra in a lower class family that dwells in Mumbai slum area. He was family has its roots from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name is Sunil Walmiki and his mother’s name is Meena. His father is chauffeur with meager salary. He has three brothers, Ravi, Rakesh and Devendra. He is the third among them and he and his brother Devendra are hockey players. He studied at Rizvi College in Bandra.

 

He does not have electricity, water or toilet facilities in his home. But still he proved to be good in his studies as well as in the game of hockey. He was initially coached by Marzban Patel and later by Dhanraj Pillay and Robin.

 

He got a chance to play for the Bombay Republicans and then played for Bank of India team in the Mumbai league matches. He got a big break when he got a chance to play for the Air India team. He was a part of the team that won tournaments at Singapore and Hong Kong in 2008. He played for Mahindra at the Dubai Invitational 2007. He is continuously proving his talents in the game.
