Yugabharathi Biography 
Yugabharathi is the pen name of Prem Kumar, a poet belonging to Tamil language. He is also a lyricist of Tamil movies and has penned lyrics for Jilla, Kumki, Rummy, Chandra, Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal, Cuckoo and Maan Karate in the recent times. ‘Kadhal Pisase….,' (Run) ‘Manmadha Raasa…' (Thiruda Thirudi) and ‘Konja neram…' (Chandramukhi) are some of his early hits. In 2012, his "Sollitaley" song of Kumki earned him a nomination at South Indian International Movie Awards for best lyrics. For Yugabharathi, penning lyrics for the film ‘Mynaa' was a satisfying experience.
Hailing from Thanjavur, Yugabharathi developed an interest in writing since his younger days. He got good support from family and also received encouragement from his school and college teachers. He schooled at Maxwell Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thanjavur and later studied at Government Polytechnic College Aranthangi where he completed Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Then he worked as a journalist for a Tamil magazine for a short period. He started writing poems in magazines in the 1990s.
His compilation of poems - ‘Manapathayam’ caught the attention of director Lingusamy who gave him a film break through Aanandham. He penned the lyrics of ‘Pallankuzhiyin vattam parthaen…' which became a super hit. It was followed by the memorable songs of run, Thiruda Thirudi, Nadodikal, Chandramukhi etc and Yugabharathi established himself as one of the leading lyricists of the industry. He has also written lyrics for Gilli, Oshti, Subramaniapuram, 18 Vayasu, Kaavalan, Marina, Bheema, Aathi, Desingu Raja, Doo, Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam, Ji, Thulli Ezhunthathu Kadhal, Rajapattai, Sullan, Satai, Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, Kumki and many more. He has completed one decade in the industry and penned over 1000 songs.
