Yami Gautam Biography

Yami Gautham is a popular Bollywood actress, best known for the movies, Vicky Donor and Kabil, where she played the female lead. She is a successful model too, and has appeared in a few south Indian movies as well. After playing female lead opposite Hrithik Roshan in 2017 hit, Kaabil, she rose to the list of A-grade actresses of Bollywood. As a model, she is best known for Fair & Lovely Ad.

Yami Gautam was born on 28 November 1988 in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. She was born into a filmy family. Her father Mukesh Gautam is a Punjabi film director and her elder sister Surilie Gautam has also appeared in a couple of films. She aspired to join IAS, but later made up her decision to join film industry. In between she pursued graduation in law, but had to leave it in the middle to pursue a career in film industry. At the age of 20, she left her studies and moved to Mumbai. Currently she is doing graduation part time.

She started off with television shows and modelling career. Chand Ke Paar Chalo in 2008 marked her television debut, where she played female lead opposite Zalak Thakker. But the series very soon went off air due to low rating. She was also seen in Raajkumar Aaryyan and Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, and a couple of reality shows before she made her film debut through South Indian films.

Kannada film, Ullasa Utsaha marked her acting film. She also entered other film industries like Punjabi, Telugu and Malayalam, before she made her Bollywood debut opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Vicky Donar in 2012. Her debut Malayalam film, Hero opposite Prithviraj released one month after Vicky Donar was a box office flop. After the huge success of Vicky Donar, she worked in a few Tamil and Telugu films also. Yet she preferred Bollywood films most.

She was seen in Ajay Devgn starrer, Action Jackson. She played female lead opposite Varun Dhawan in Badlapur (2015). The film was critically well acclaimed and received tremendous response from audience. In 2016, she played female lead in Sanam Re and Junooniyat. However it’s Kaabil (2017) opposite Hrithik Roshan which gave her the big boost she was waiting for. The movie is a revenge saga similar to Badlapur and treated in a different way. She was most recently seen in Sarkar 3.
