Vivek Shauq Biography

Vivek Shauq was a comedian and television actor. He has appeared in a few commercials as well. He played supporting role in successful show of Jaspal Bhatti – Flop show, aired on Doordarshan during early 90’s. He is a theatre artist also. He has appeared in numerous Hindi and Punjabi movies as a comedian and was a popular writer and singer also. He was the founding member of Nonsense Club. He died on January 2011 in Mumbai following a heart attack. He died at a comparatively younger age of 47.

Shauq was born on 21 June 1963 in Chandigarh. He studied from Indo-Swiss Training Centre. He started his career as a theatre artist and worked for Doordarshan as well. His association with Jaspal Bhatti for the television shows, Ulta Pulta and Flop Show on Doordarshan became great success. Jaspal Bhatti considered Shauq as his right hand man. He has also appeared in Full Tension directed by Jaspal Bhatti. He worked in television serial, Afsane directed by Lalit Behl also. He appeared in a few commercials of HCL Computers, CP Plywood, Chlorates, Vasmol and Nokia CDMA.

During middle 90’s, he started working in movies in comedian’s role. Barsaat ki raat, released in the year 1998 was his debut movie, the movie known to be the last one for Laxmikanth-Pyarelal composition. Later he appeared in movies like - Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Baaz—A Bird In Danger, Delhi Heights, Krazzy 4, Dum, Aitraaz, 36 China Town, 23 March 1931, Shaheed , international Khiladi, Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi , tango Charlie, Maa tujhe salam, Life Partner , Vaada raha, Ab ke baras, Indian, Champion, Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye, Asa Nu Maan Watna Da and Dil Hai Tumhaara.  Apart from comedian, he has also appeared in supporting roles in a few movies. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and 36 China Town need special mention.
