Vivek Prasanna Biography

Vivek Prasanna is a noted character artist associated with Tamil cinema. After appearing in several short films and tele films, he got his first break to movies through 2016 police drama, Sethupathi, where he shared screen space with Vijay Sethupathi. The actor was most recently seen aside Vijay Sethupathi for the critically acclaimed thriller, Vikram Vedha. He played a henchman in both these Vijay starrers. A busy supporting artist in Tamil cinema at present, he acted in a series of movies in 2017 since 2016. Sethupathi, Maanagaram, Peechankai, Vikram Vedha, Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam and Meyatha Maan are his releases up-to-date, of which except Sethupathi, the rest 5 films got released in first half of 2017.

Vivek Prasanna has been associated with several short films before he made his film debut in 2016. He earlier appeared in a few movies in short roles, such as Darling 2, 144, Jil Jil Jan, Iravi etc. He got a big break through Sethupathi released the same year, and received a handful of roles after that. His appearance in a short film, Tanglish gave him the first big break to cinema. The short film was directed by his friend, Ratna Kumar, which proved to be turning point of his career. He played a comedy villain in Sethupathi.

He has played both comedy villain and serious villain onscreen, and he shot to fame playing the negative character Ravi in 2017 blockbuster Vikram Vedha. Definitely he portrays the main villain in the film, and the movie is known for the strong support of numerous character artists, mostly playing henchmen roles. He appears with a beard look in most of his movies, the appearance which got clicked with ‘Sethupathi’ itself. Also he portrays characters with age 40+, though he is not so.
