Vivek Agnihotri Biography

Vivek Agnihotri is a director of Bollywood and producer of many successful television programs. He hails from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. His wife Pallavi Joshi is a well known film and television actress. His noted films as a director include - Chocolate (2005), Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007) and Hate Story (2012). Much awaited project, Buddha in a Traffic Jam, starring Arunoday Singh, Mahi Gill, Anupam Kher and his wife, Pallavi Joshi is to be released soon. He has also planned the sequel of Hate story, the movie that has become controversial for its theme and film posters. Vivek is a professor of ‘Creative Thinking’ subject too, who teachers at various colleges of London, Delhi and Mumbai.

Before entering film making industry, he took a few professional degrees. Post graduation from Strategic Planning from School of Social Studies, Bhopal and Advertising from Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi and CSS in Organization & Management from Harvard University, USA are among those professional qualifications. He has also worked in leading ad companies like Ogilvy & Mather and JWT before working in movies. He has successfully launched Gillette and Coca-Cola brands in India. His own advertising agency – Art Beat is one among the 10 leading advertising companies of India. He has made more than 100 television ads of which P & G, Tata, Godrej andNational Association for Blind are the most popular ones. His films on AIDS & NAB have won several honours including AD Club Gold.

Credits of India’s first private TV channels shows go to none other than Vivek. He has produced Saturday Suspense, X Zone, Rishtey and Gubbarey, first television shows of this kind. Rishtey was a very popular television serial of Doordarshan. As a film director, he is yet to become successful. His first two projects, Chocolate (2005) and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007) terribly bombed at box office. However the movie, Hate Story helped him to remain in limelight.
