Vinod Raj (kannada Actor) Biography

Vinod Raj is a Kannada film actor, born in Chennai. Raj is the son of well-known Kannada actress Leelavathi. Well known for his dancing skills, he exhibited his skills in the roles he played on big screen, and has worked with several leading actors of the industry. As a dancer he is best known for his work in Dance Raja Dance, a Kannada film in 1987 for which he played lead role. It was his debut film. He also played the role of a judge in the dance reality show, Rock n Roll on television. He is also known as a philanthropist, and has been associated with social service just like his mother. He was also a part of Anna Hazare's movement supporting Jan Lokpal Bill against corruption.

His birth name is Vinod. He later added ‘Raj’ tag to his name when he made his screen debut in the late 1980s. He was born to well-known Kannada actress of yesterdays, Leelavathi and her husband Dr. Rajkumar. He was introduced to the Kannada film industry by actor-producer Dwarakish who casted him in a lead role in Dance Raja Dance followed by Sri Venkateshwara Mahime. His dancing skills shot him to fame in a very short interval of time, and he went on to do good roles in the late 1980s and 1990s. Michael Jackson is his role model and inspiration and the success story of this legend inspired him to try his level best in singing and dancing.

A wonderful dancer, emotional actor and action hero, he was a complete package for young audience in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Krishna Nee Kunidaga (1989) and College Hero (1990) are some of the film roles which helped him to gain foot in film industry. In the 1990s he moved to character roles. He is still active in film stream, and Yaradu, Shukra, Kannadada Kanda etc are some of the roles which he did in recent past.
