Vineet Kumar Singh Biography

Vineet Kumar Singh is an Indian actor who works in Bollywood playing supporting roles. He shot to fame playing the role of Danish Khan in the cult movie Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). He was seen in first part as well as its sequel. Earlier he has appeared in movies like City of Gold, Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii, Crook etc. He was seen in the Segment Murabba for the highly acclaimed Bombay Talkies, released in 2013. Gori tere Pyar Mein, Ugly, Shorts and Issaq are a few more noted appearances of this actor. This actor was a medical practitioner with a MD in Ayurveda and had to struggle a lot before he achieved success in his true passion – cinema.

He was born into a Thakur family in Varanasi with good academic background. His father is a mathematician. Since school days he was interested in sports and has played basketball till national level. But his height became a hindrance to his play in Senior level Nationals. He wanted to join National School of Drama. But under family pressure, he pursued Ayurveda from Nagpur and took a Master’s degree. He hold an MD in Ayurveda, though he later pursued acting as his career. Despite being a licensed medical practitioner with a MD in Ayurveda, he started his career as an assistant director. After spending a few years in Varanasi, he moved to Mumbai.

He participated in Superstars – Talent Hunt and worked as an assistant director of Mahesh Manjrekar during his initial years. After 2007, he took acting seriously. Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) proved to be his real breakthrough and there was no turning back after that. Now he is one of the popular character artists of Bollywood.
