Vimalakka Biography 
Vimalakka is a well-known Telugu folk artist, balladeer and social activist. She was involved with the Telangana movement and also headed a Joint Action Committee for the creation of Telangana state. Currently she resides in Hyderabad. She is regular with her performances in public places, and also owns a troupe named Arunodaya Samskritika Samakhya. She is married to Koora Devender, the revolutionary party leader of CPI (M) Janashakthi. During Telangana statehood movement many FIRs have been registered against her for her involvement and participation. She is the founding leader of the regional party, Telanganna United Front (TUF)
Her real name is Arunodaya Vimala, and she is fondly called Vimalakka which means ‘Elder sister Vimala’. Vimalakka was born in Aler village in Nalgonda district in 1964. Narsamma and Bandru Narsimayya are her parents. Her father is an activist and revolutionary who participated in Telangana agitation. She is the youngest of 5 children to her parents, belonging to Kurma community. Vimala graduated in Bhongir. Since young she has been deeply influenced by the revolutionary activities of her father. Since young she started singing, and very often in support to the rebellion for free Telangana.
She is a civil rights woman's activist also, who has been involved with Telangana movement since 1995. She also married an activist. She was once jailed for four months for her activism. Her office was once sealed by police in 2016. Now she is known for promoting folk arts by organizing cultural programmes and folk festivals in different parts of Telangana. She also serves as the chairperson of Saamajika Telangana and Telanagana United Front, an organization started by her. As per latest biz, she is to participate in 2019 general elections as a candidate of Telanganna United Front (TUF).
