Viju Shah Biography

Viju Shah is a popular music director of Bollywood at present times. He is the song of Kalyanji of Kalyanji Anandji duo. He does background score as well. He is most popular for westernizing Indian tunes and using western music instruments. Such noticeable works of 90’s include Gupt, Mohra and Bade miye chote miya. His other works include Bulandi, Tere mere sapne, Vinasak, Pyar ishq aur mohabbat, Beti no.1, Yalgaar, Tujhe meri kasam, Dund, Victoria no.203, Assambhav and Vishwatma. His music and background score of Gupt played a significant role in the success of this suspense thriller. He has won Filmfare awards for the background score of Gupt and has been nominated for best music composer for the movies – Mohra, Gupt and Tere mere sapna, the best 3 films of his career. Songs of Bade miya chote miya – The title track and Kisi disco mein jaaye were also very popular during 1998. Yet it can be said that he never reached the magical heights, that everyone expected from him with the lovely compositions of his major hits like Mohra and Gupt.

 

As a music composer he started work in 1992 with the movie Vishwatma. The song ‘Saat amundar paar ke mein’, pictured on late. Divya Bharathi and sung by Sadhana Sargam was very popular during 1992. Songs like ‘Dil Le Gayi Teri Bindiya’, Aankhon Mein Hai Kya’ and ‘Aadmi Zindagi’ also became popular. Yalgar’s music also became hit and he became popular. But it was the super hit songs of Mohra in 1994 that helped him to stay in Bollywood as an established music director. The album contained all types of songs – both slow numbers as well as fast ones. Its songs helped the leading actors – Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon to become the hot pair during middle 90’s. Dance number - ‘Tu cheez badi hai mast’, sizzling number – ‘Tip tip barsa pani’ and melodious number – ‘Na kajre ke daaga’ were huge hits that year.

 

He continued his success journey with Gupth too. Western instruments used in composition were far advanced comparing other music directors and all songs of Gupt became chartbusters - Duniya hasseno ka, Becheniyaan and Mere khwabom mein. Among other songs, title track of Pyar ishq aur mohabbat and ‘Hungama Ho Jaaye’ and ‘Saari Duniya Mein’ of Bulandi also were hits.
