Vijayakumar Biography 
Vijayakumar is an Indian actor who concentrated mainly on Tamil films though he had acted in a few Hindi and Telugu movies. He also acted in television serials such as Thangam. This serial was aired on Sun TV in the year 2009.
He was born on 29th August 1949 in Nattuchalai in Tamil Nadu in India. He started his film career in the year 1961 when he was just 12 years old. With the help of his uncle, he came to Chennai when he was 15 and looked out for chances to act in films. He could get an offer only in 1973. The first important role that he did was in the film Aval Oru Thodar Kathai in the year 1974 by K. Balachander.
He married Muthukannu and also married the former actress Manjula. He has five daughters, Anitha, Kavitha, Vanitha, Preetha, Sridevi and son Arun Vijay. His sone Arun is also an actor. Both Vijayakumar and Arun have acted together for two films, Pandavar Bhoomi and Maanja Velu.
He started to act as a child artist through his debut film Sri Valli in 1961. In the year 1973, his acting in the film Ponnukku Thanga Manasu by P. Madhavan gave him a break. Some of his films include Velai Kidaichirukku, Aval Oru Thodar Kathai, Mathura Geetham, Azhage Unnai Aarathikkerain, etc. He received positive criticism for his acting in the film Agni Natchathiram by Mani Ratnam. This is about the story of the half brothers fighting over the property of their father.
Some of the films that he acted include Kanden, Ponnar Shankar, Singam, Goa, Pokkisham, Malai Malai, Kuselan, Kannum Kannum, Santosh Subramaniam, Thaamirabharani, Deepawali, Kusthi, Thalaimagan, Ilavattam, Dharmapuri, Jambhavan, Majaa, London, Chandramukhi, Baba, Ezhumalai, Villain, Love Birds, Ejaman, Cheran Pandiyan, Kizhakku Vasal, Viduthalai, etc.
He also appeared in Telugu film industry. He has acted in over four hundred films. He was nominated for National Film Award for Best Actor for the film Anthi Mantharai in the year 1995. He serves as the vice president of the Nadigar sangam of South India. He is a member of the AIADMK political party.
