Vijay Milton Biography

Vijay Milton is a cinematographer and director who works in Tamil films. He started his film career as a cinematographer in the year 1998, and later directed 4 films since 2014. Award winning Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu, Goli Soda, 10 Endrathukulla, Kadugu and Goli Soda 2 are the movies directed by him. Goli Soda and Kadugu opened to critical acclaim. 2012 movie Vazhakku Enn 18/9 earned him nomination for best cinematography at Vijay Awards and SIIMA Awards.

S. D. Vijay Milton was born on 5 January 1971. He studied at M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute before he joined film industry in the 1990s. He started his career as an independent cinematographer in the year 1998 with the movie, Priyamudan followed by Nenjinile, Pooparika Varugirom, Hello, Chocolate, Dhaya, Kadhaludan, Soori etc till Autograph happened in 2004.

During the shooting of the movie - Autograph, there were a lot of disagreements with director Cheran, whom Milton considers a close friend. Yet things ended in a positive knot. They were fighting right from day 1 and didn’t share compatibility on sets and work. The film had four looks, and had four cinematographers for each. The National award winning movie, Autograph earned him recognition as a cinematographer and more roles from cine industry. It was followed by Kaadhal.

Bose, Deepavali, Kadhalil Vizhunthen, Aattanayagann, Vazhakku Enn 18/9, Eppadi Manasukkul Vanthai, Attahasa (Kannada) etc are the movies for which he did camera work later. He marked his directorial debut with Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu in 2006, and later directed 4 more films. Currently he is concentrating most on his directorial ventures. 10 Enradhukulla, a road movie featuring Vikram and Samantha opened to negative reviews from critics, but was a hit.
