Vijay Goel Biography 
Vijay Goel is a very influential and prominent Indian politician associated with Bharatiya Janata party, who currently serves a parliamentarian and minister. He is a member of Rajya Sabha representing BJP, and currently serves as Minister of State Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Statistics & Programme Implementation in the central government led by Narendra Modi. He serves this position since 3 September 2017. Sidelined in Delhi, Vijay Goel made a comeback as Union minister in Cabinet expansion. He was once hoped to be the chief ministerial face, when he was sent to Rajya Sabha by the party. He is a three-time Lok Sabha Member of Parliament and is known to be a skillful and media savvy politician.
Vijay Goel was born on 4 January 1954 in Delhi into a politically affluent family. His father Charti Lal Goel was a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party from Delhi, who served as the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly from 1993 to 1998. Vijay completed LL.B. degree from the University of Delhi. In the 1970s he was involved with politics as a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and was jailed during Emergency in India. He became the president of Delhi University Students' Union in 1977 after the Emergency was lifted. He married Preeti Goel, a professor at the University of Delhi in 1985 and the couple had two children.
Chandni Chowk remains his favourite constituency, and he was elected to Lok Sabha from the same constituency three times in 11th, 12th and 13th Lok Sabha. He was a minister in the Prime Minister’s Office in the first National Democratic Alliance government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the 1990s. He remained a prominent party leader in the national capital, but got sidelined later. With 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he rose to prominence one again and he was given the portfolio, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Statistics & Programme Implementation.
