Vidisha Baliyan Biography

Vidisha Baliyan is an Indian model, beauty pageant winner and retired tennis player. Currently she holds the international beauty title of Miss Deaf World 2019. Thus she became the first ever Indian to be crowned as a Miss Deaf World. She beat 10 other participants, who represented their countries in this competition. She represented India at the 2017 Summer Deaflympics. She competed in women's singles and doubles events at the 2017 Deaflympics, before she retired from her career. Severe back injuries – is cited to be reason for early retirement when she is just 22.

Vidisha Baliyan was born on 21 August 1997 in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. She was diagnosed with partial hearing impairment at birth. She attended the MN Public School in Muzaffarnagar, as her parents wanted to send her to normal school. She faced discriminations from other students at school because of deafness. Now she is pursuing B.P.Ed from Noida College of Physical Education located in Dhoom Manikpur.

She owns a brilliant career in athletics as a tennis player. She won two silver medals at the 2016 National Games and went on to represent India at 2017 Summer Deaflympics, her first Deaflympic event. She was placed fifth in the women's doubles event. Due to back injuries, she is not playing tennis for a while. Following her retirement from tennis, she decided to choose another career option and it was modelling. That’s how she participated in Miss Deaf India 2019, where she was chosen as winner. In fact she went through rigorous training for one year to participate in the event. She represented India at Miss Deaf World 2019 held at South Africa and was declared winner.
