Vidhya Unni Biography

Vidhya Unni is an upcoming Malayalam film actress who made her onscreen debut with 2011 romantic Malayalam hit – Doctor Love where she played the pivot role of Manju. The movie starred Kunchacko Boban and Bhavana in lead roles and was a commercial hit. Vidhya Unni is the sister of actress Divya Unni, one of the top actresses of the late 1990s, known for the movies Pranayavarnangal and Oru maravathur kanavu. Currently she works as a Software Engineer in a US based software company, Cognizant in Kochi. Most recently she was seen in the 2013 release - 3G Third Generation, where she played the title role. Anil kumar’s movie also starred John, Arun Naryanan and Rahul Janes.

She was born in 1990 in Kochi. Her elder sister Divya Unni, who is 10 years older to her entered small screen (Doordarshan) in the early 1990s as a child artist and later moved to movies. Vidhya graduated in Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri. She did her first movie, Dr. Love while doing her final year graduation. She was paired opposite Bhagat in the film. Then she completed her graduation and got a job at an IT firm in Kochi before signing her second film.

 
In her second release – 3G Third generation, she worked with an ensemble star cast of John Jacob, Arun Narayan, Irshad, Mehul James, Geetha and Lena. This youth oriented movie is all about the pros and cons of modern gadgets. The movie received bad response from critics and was declared a flop. The movie was directed by A. Jayaprakash.
