Veda Sastry Biography

Archana Shastry, earlier known as Veda is a south Indian film actress who works predominantly in Telugu cinema. She has also worked in Tamil and Kannada movies. She was one of the contestants in the first season of Bigg Boss Telugu. The show aired on Star Maa in 2017 was hosted by N.T. Rama Rao Jr and she finished at position 5, becoming one of the popular contestants of the show. A trained Kuchipudi dancer, she is a professional artist too who has performed in India and abroad for many dance concerts and earned accolades. Nenu, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and Aa Dinagalu are her best film roles in Telugu cinema, for which she is known most. She has done lead roles, supporting roles and a few item numbers including the song from the movie, Lion.

Archana Shastry was born on October 8, 1986 in Hyderabad, Telangana. Veda’s mother is a Mohiniyattom specialist and she used to accompany her mother for stage shows since young. She trained in Kuchipudi and Kathak dance since young and later successfully delivered many performances on stage. She has also given her performance in foreign countries like USA, UK and Malayasia. She entered Telugu cinema in 2004. She took the screen name of Veda for her early releases. She made her debut in 2004 Telugu film Pelli Sambhandam, in an unaccredited role. Same year, Tapana marked her film debut. She reprised the role played by Sonia Agarwal in the Telugu remake of Kathal Kondein. The movie was titled Nenu and she was paired with Allari Naresh. The movie opened to positive reviews, but was a box office failure.

She played a noted supporting role in 2005 hit - Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, and Aa Dinagalu, for which she received critics’ appreciation. She played supporting roles in Telugu flicks - Sri Ramadasu, Pournami, Samanyudu, Athili Sattibabu LKG, Yamadonga etc. In 2007 she made her Tamil debut through Agaram, in a lead role. Agaram was a Tamil remake of Hollywood flick, Cellular. Mike Testing 143 and Poga are her upcoming Telugu projects. Agarathi is her upcoming Tamil flick.
