Ved Prakash Sharma Biography

The famous crime and detective writer Ved Prakash Sharma was born on 6 June 1955 in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh. He was youngest of 7 brothers and one sister. His father Pundit Mishri Lal Sharma came to Meerut in search of job from Bihra village of nearby district. However, Ved Prakash Sharma’s family went through a hard life during those days. Ved Prakash saw the untimely demise of five of his brothers within a short span and the worst that happened was one of the legs of his father was amputated as it was infected with gangrene.

Ved Prakash appeared in High school examination in the year 1972 and went to his father’s village during summer vacations. As he was fond of reading detective novels, he took with him some of the novels written by his favorite writers Ibne safi, Ved prakash Kamboj, Om Prakash Sharma and Gulshan Nanda. But once he finished reading all the books he while had nothing else to do started writing on a copy. He finished writing on one copy then took another and in the process completed writing a whole novel.

His work was later published but it had not his name on it but he wrote as a ghost writer for his favorite writer Ved Prakash Kamboj. However, his name and photo appeared on his novels later and he immediately became a successful writer. In 1985, he started his own publication house (Tulsi Prakashan). He has so far written 176 novels in his own name and out of those 176; Tulsi Prakashan published 70 of them.

Balaji telefilm’s serial Keshav Pandit was based on his novel with same name, and as per sources Amir Khan is in touch for a joint venture with him. Sharma and his wife have three daughters and one son.
