Vasuki Sunkavalli Biography

Vasuki Sunkavalli is an Indian model from Andhra Pradesh and I Am She – Miss Universe India 2011 Title Holder. She has represented India at the Miss Universe 2011 pageant held at Brazil, but was unplaced due to non-participation in competition rounds. Vasuki is a lawyer by profession. She received her LLM from NYU one year before her win at Miss India contest. In her words, she entered the contest as the winner and was only more than pleased and thankful when her name was announced as winner.

 

Vasuki belongs to Hyderabad. Modelling was not in her dreams till she completed her LLB. She joined Symbiosis International University in Pune in the year 2002 to pursue Bachelor of Law. Later she did a series of internships at local law firms. In 2007 she moved to Delhi to pursue a Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from Global Institute of Intellectual Property. It was during this time when she joined modelling, when she was approached by a few modelling assignments. She started off as a model in the year 2007 as a ramp model of Wills India Fashion Week. She has also done ad campaigns of Nike, Kit Kat, and World Gold Council.

 

In 2009, Vasuki enrolled at New York University School of Law and graduated with an LLM degree in 2010. She participated in Miss India contest the following year at the age of 27. In 2011 September she represented India in Miss Universe Contest conducted at Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her costumes got stuck in Brazil customs for two weeks and for the same reason she couldn’t pose in National Costume Round. She lost some points too. Unfortunately she was misplaced for this misfortune, though she was one of the strong contenders of the title!!!! Vasuki is also a state level basketball player and a trained dancer.
