Vasu Vikram Biography

Vasu Vikram is a character artist associated with Tamil cinema and television. He is also a stage director. The grandson of M. R. Radha, he is the son of actor M. R. Vasu. Born into an illustrious family of actors, Radha Ravi is his uncle and Raadhika Sarathkumar is his aunt. As a television actor he is best known for the portrayal of a negative character in the popular television series – Chithi. His popular play Raktha Kaneer was staged for the first time by his grandfather in 1948 and has been continuously played by his family members for 66 long years till 2016 – indeed a unique achievement.

Made his acting debut with Palaivanathil Pattampoochi (1988), he has stayed in the industry for about three decades, portraying the varying roles of villain, supporting and comic roles. One of the hard working actors of Tamil industry, he has excelled in every type of roles offered to him. Padayappa (1996), Pudhumai Pithan (1998), Soori (2003), Kola Kolaya Mundhirika (2010), Summa Nachunu Irukku (2013), Thalaivan (2014), Linga (2015) and Moondram Pournami (2015) are among his noted film roles.

He was born into an illustrious filmy family as the son of M. R. Vasu. The family claims to have more than a century old acting history, associated with plays and cinema. He was born into an illustrious family of actors. During his younger days, he didn’t think of entering film industry. He studied English literature as correspondence and wanted to take an office job. Once he assisted his father as a manager for one of his plays – Raktha Kaneer. His grandfather, father and paternal uncle played different roles in the play. Later he played one the vital roles of the play and has appeared in over 50 shows, thus marking his career beginning as a stage actor.

He made his film debut in 1988 with the movie, Palaivanathil Pattampoochi and continued to play character roles onscreen, apart from being active in theatre as a play director as well as stage actor. He has performed in many foreign countries with his stage shows.
