V. Nagendra Prasad Biography

V. Nagendra Prasad is a multifaceted personality of Kannada entertainment industry. He is a noted lyricist, dramatist and film director associated with Kannada entertainment industry. He has also written dialogues and directed a few movies as well. Nagendra Prasad also composes music for Kannada movies – Ambi and Shishya released in 2006. A successful lyricist in the Kannada film industry, he has penned more than 1000 film songs for about 400 movies, apart from 30 devotional albums and 39 TV serials, in a career spanning to 15 years.

Prasad is known for writing songs with lot of social concerns and he never writes remake songs for remake tunes. As a dramatist, he has written, directed and published four stage plays - Shwetarka, Nelada Nakshatra Baahubali, Kattalegalu Maataduttave and AshTaavakrana Antaraala, apart from 10 street plays and 15 radio plays. He has also acted in more than 1000 street plays. He directed four movies – Nalla, Ambi, Meghave Meghave and Vinayaka Geleyara Balaga.

Dr. V. Nagendra Prasad was born in Ijjala Gatta, a remote village of Mandya district of Karnataka. He has also got the nick names - Kaviratna V. Nagendra Prasad and Nalla Nagendra Prasad. He started his film career under the guidance of the great film personality – Hamsalekha. Gajina Mane in the year 2000 marked his debut as a lyricist and since then he has penned more than a thousand film songs, apart from other works. Apart from writing lyrics, he also handles sections like music composition, acting, writes plays, dialogue writing for movies and television serials, and also acts in movies and street plays.

After playing supporting roles in a few movies like Romeo Juliet, Heart Beats and Dharma, he is to debut as a lead actor with the Tamil-Kannada bilingual movie – Guruji, which is scheduled to release in 2016. A dialogue writer for more than 20 movies, he has also written 2 mega serials. The movie - Sri Manjunatha is his noted work.
