Unni Mukundan Biography

Unni Mukundan is a popular young hero of Malayalam movies at present. His most popular works are Bombay March 12, Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty, Mallu Singh and Pathiranamal. He debut acting with Tamil movie with Seedan (2011) in leading role, where he reprised the role played by Pritviraj in his debut movie Nandanam (2002). Surprisingly both these movies marked the beginning of these two leading actors of South India. Unni Mukundan’s debut Malayalam movie was Bombay March 12 where Mammootty played the leading role.

Unni was born on September 22 1987. He debut with Seedam, directed by Subramaniam Shiva. Though the movie received mixed responses it was successful at box office collecting good. He debut Malayalam in the same year with Bombay March 12, for which he received Asianet Film Award for Best Debut Actor and SIIMA Award for Best Debut Actor – Malayalam. Same year he did a brief role in the movie - Bangkok Summer and his character name was Madhavan.   

Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty, released in 2012 was his first movie in full fledged role where he played leading hero role opposite Nithya Menon. The movie was about a channel reality show and he played the role of a channel actor who traps the heroine in love to increase rating of the channel show. His role as a romantic hero was well appreciated and he became famous for his glamour looks. Same year Mallu Singh was also released. It’s the best performance of this actor till now. He plays the role of childhood friend of Kunchakko Boban who is in love with his sister. He powerfully portrayed the role of a ‘Sikh’ son who guards his sisters.

A few of his other movies are – I love me, Hit list, Theevram, Ezham Suryan, Orissa and Ithu Pathira manal. Ithu pathiramanal was his latest release where he was paired opposite Remya Nambisan where he appeared opposite Sanika Nambiar in main lead in the movie Orissa. His movies – Last supper, Kattum mazhayum, Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander, D Company and Vikramadityan are to arrive this year – 2013.
