Umesh Kamat Biography

Umesh Kamat is an Indian actor belonging to Marathi cinema and television. He is also known as a chocolate boy of Marathi cinema. Before entering cinema and television he was associated with theatre and has also attended Ramnath Tharwal's acting classes Kalaghar. He is married to popular film and television actress, Priya Bapat and the couple together serves as the brand ambassadors of Gopinath Patil Parsik Janata Sahakari Bank. Most recently in 2013, the couple together appeared in one Marathi movie - Time Please. “Samar – Ek Sangharsha” in 2007 is one of the memorable movies of his career which earned him numerous awards for best actor.

Umesh was born on 12 December 1978. He has also won numerous awards for his performance as a stage actor since his college days. Man Udhan Varyache and 'Navar Gadi Nava Rajya are his most successful Marathi plays. Currently he appears in Marathi soap Eka Lagnachi Teesri Goshta in the role of an advocate opposite Spruha Joshi. Pune Via Bihar is his latest released movie.

Marathi play 'Navar Gadi Nava Rajya' was very successful where Umesh and Priya worked together. It completed 125 stage shows. Later the play was made to a feature film and the real life couple reprised their roles. Time Please – released in 2013 was a box office hit too. The movie also starred Siddharth Jadhav and Sai Tamhankar in pivot roles. It’s the story of a newly wedded couple and small troubles due to the small age difference of 4 or 5 years. However fewer movies are being offered to this successful pair. Actually the couple is surprised that no film maker has approached them after that, with a film offer to work together.
