Tiruchy L. Saravanan Biography

Tiruchy L. Saravanan, also called Trichy L. Saravanan is a well-known flautist of Carnatic style. Also known as Flute Saravanan, Tiruchy L. Saravanan is a prime disciple of the legendary musician N. Ramani. He has received several awards and titles for his performances, and has received Senior Fellowship from the Government of India and the prestigious Yuvakalabarathy award. Saptha Swara Kulal Isai Mani and the Senior Flautist awards from the Madras Music Academy are other major honours received by him. He has also performed as an accompany of some of the leading vocalists of present times, and composed some amazing pieces of music as well.

 

Tiruchy L. Saravanan hails from Trichy, Tamil Nadu. He received training in flute from some of the leading gurus of present times - N. Ramani, K. S. Narayanan, V. Sundaresan and R. Muralidharan to mention a few. He has also trained in Carnatic vocals. He began his training at the age of 10 in both vocal and Carnatic flute. At the age of 14, he gave his first performance for All India Radio. He took advanced training from N. Ramani, after learning from several gurus. He got this golden opportunity to learn under him, on a government scholarship, which helped him to polish his talents.

 

He performs in Ramani's Academy of Flute regularly and also performs with his guru regularly. He has released several albums, in collaboration with his gurus for which he was an accompany, and a few solo albums too. He has also taught many students, and worked as a teacher at Tamil Nadu Government Music College and SIFAS Academy. He is also a composer in the National Arts Council of Singapore. He has also experimented with his compositions.
