Thiru Krishnamoorthy Biography

Thiru Krishnamoorthy, better known as Thiru in Tamil film industry is a well-known and reputed film director. As of now, he has directed three movies, and all of them starred Vishal in title role. Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai (2010), Samar (2013) and Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014) are his released films. Currently he is working on his fourth film, Mr. Chandramouli, but this time with actor father & son, Karthik & Gautham Karthik. It’s a sports comedy film. The director has experimented with different genres of film making till now.

Thiru was born in Chennai. He is married to Karthika, daughter of popular film director Agathiyan. He started off his career as an assistant director under A. Rajasekhar in 2008. Sathyam was his first film as an assistant director. He started off as a full-fledged director with the film, Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai (2010) starring Vishal alongside three lead actresses. A rom-com, the movie received negative reviews from critics. But it fared average at box office. Since then he directed two more Tamil films with Vishal playing the male lead.

His second flick, Samar (2013) had Trisha as female lead opposite Vishal. This mystery thriller film written and directed by Thiru had a delayed release. The film ran into legal troubles over the title, and a few more issues. However it opened to positive reviews from the critics and faired average at box office. His third release - Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014) had Lakshmi Menon & Iniya as female leads opposite Vishal. The film dealt with narcolepsy and was an action thriller. The film received praises for direction skills as well as the performance of Vishal. After two average films, Naan Sigappu Manithan was declared 'Super-Hit' at the box office.
