Thaman Kumar Biography

Thaman Kumar is a well-known actor associated with Tamil films, who plays both lead and parallel lead roles. He marked his film debut with 2012 Tamil film, Aachariyangal which received rave reviews from critics, but went unnoticed. He played lead role in Aachariyangal opposite Iyshwarya Rajesh. Same year he got a major breakthrough film, Sattam Oru Iruttarai, opposite Bindu Madhavi and since then has been a part of many successful films. Thriller film, Nethraa is his most recent release, where he shared screen space with Vinay Rai and Subiksha.

Thaman Kumar hails from Chennai. He joined film industry in 2012. Initially he was signed for London Maappillai in 2011. But unfortunately the film got shelved. However he got two films back to back and both released in 2012 garnered critics’ appreciation. Aachariyangal was his first release, followed by Sattam Oru Iruttarai. His first two films received minimum publicity, and hence couldn’t become box office hits. Some of his film releases later include - Summa Nachunu Irukku, Thottal Thodarum, Sethu Boomi, Puyala Kelambi Varom, 6 Athiyayam and Nethraa. He played a super hero in Super Hero, an anthology film, and his single release in 2018.

His role in Sneha Britto's Sattam Oru Iruttarai was originally meant for Vikram Prabhu. He successfully attended the audition, and the film gave him a major breakthrough. He starred opposite Bindu Madhavi and Piaa Bajpai in the remake of the 1980s film with the same title. As he was a new actor and film was not well promoted, it was a box office failure. But it helped him to bag more offers from Tamil cinema. His film Sethu Boomi also opened to mixed reviews.
