Tatineni Satya Biography

Tatineni Satya is a well-known filmmaker associated with Telugu cinema at present. He is the son of famous filmmaker T. L. V. Prasad and grandson of veteran filmmaker Tatineni Prakash Rao, known for his contributions to Indian film industry since 1950s and throughout 1960s-1980s. Satya predominantly worked in Telugu and Tamil film industry, and has assistant David Dhawan for a few Bollywood movies in the 2000s. Tatineni Satya entered into film industry with the film Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu, a sports drama Telugu film released in 2010 and is associated with the industry since then.

 

Satya was born into a prominent film family in Andhra Pradesh. Satya is the grandson of film director Tatineni Prakash Rao and son of T. L. V. Prasad, both known for their association in south Indian cinema and Bollywood. Satya completed his schooling in Chennai and graduated from Loyola College, Chennai with a degree in visual communications, and later decided to follow the footsteps of his forefathers. He joined film industry as an assistant director under David Dhawan for 2001 movie, Jodi No: 1 and worked under him for the next 8 films. He also worked as an assistant director in Tamil films, before starting his independent career as a film director.

 

He also worked on a few film scripts during this time, and marked his debut as a director in the year 2010, with the film Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu starring Nani and Saranya Mohan. The movie was a big hit and ran 100 days at theatres. Thus Satya began his career in a success streak, and later directed the films - Shiva Manasulo Shruti, Shankara and the bilingual, Yaar Ivan/Veedevadu released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu in 2017. Bollywood actress Esha Gupta played the female lead.
