Tanya Ravichandran Biography

Tanya Ravichandran is a south Indian film actress, best known for her work in Tamil film industry. She played female lead in Tamil films - Balle Vellaiyathevaa (2016), Brindavanam (2017) and Karuppan (2017), and currently one of the most sought actresses of Tamil cinema. Till now she has only three releases in two years, and she got opportunity to play female lead in all those ones. Her real name is Abbirami Sriram. She is also a model by profession, and the granddaughter of actor Ravichandran. Till now she has worked with top actors of Tamil cinema like Sasikumar, Vijay Sethupathi, Arulnithi and Bobby Simha, and has received mixed responses to her releases.

She inherited her filmy tradition from her grandfather, Ravichandran, who used to be a character artist in Tamil cinema. He was married to famous Malayalam actress Sheela, who he later divorced. Thus noted actor George Vishnu is her uncle. Actor Hamsavardhan is also her uncle (son of her grandfather with his first wife). Tanya Ravichandran is a well-trained classical dancer in Bharatanatyam. Tanya first successfully auditioned for a film to be directed by Mysskin in early 2016. The director also changed her name to Tanya Ravichandran. But the film was later delayed for yet another production, Thupparivaalan, and her movie with Mysskin is yet to kick off.

When director Radha Mohan came to know that acclaimed director Mysskin has chosen her for his next film, he asked her to attend a screen test, and was signed for the film, Brindavanam opposite Arulnithi. Then she signed Balle Vellaiyathevaa (2016), a rural comedy drama co-starring Sasikumar. This movie got released first. But the movie was panned by critics, and the actress had nothing to offer in this film. Brindavanam got released in 2017. Her third film, Karuppan opposite acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi brought her to limelight once again.
