Tanay Chheda Biography

Tanay Chheda is an Indian actor who appeared as a child artist in Academy award winner - Slumdog Millionaire (2008). He was seen in the role of Teenage Jamal for the movie. He also appeared in Bollywood films Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don (2006) and Aamir khan starrer Taare Zameen Par in 2007, before he appeared in the historic film. He also portrayed the young Rizwan Khan, an autistic child, in My Name Is Khan. He was a member of the award winning crew at Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, for his appearance in Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Chheda also received a nomination for Best Ensemble at the Black Reel Awards of 2008.

 

His full name is Tanay Hemant Chheda, born on 27 June 1996 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He completed his education in Mumbai. Earlier he studied at Campion School and later at Dhirubhai Ambani International School; both in Mumbai. For higher studies he joined Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, USA and is currently a freshman at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

 

He was first seen in 2006 movie Don. He was first noticed for playing a handicapped friend of Darsheel Safary in Taare Zameen Par. After appearing in a few movies as a teenager, he took a break from acting to continue his studies. He was last seen in a German film Hexe Lilli- Journey to Mandolan in the year 2011 where he was seen as Lilly's accomplice. For his role as a challenging kid (Shah Rukh’s childhood role) in My Name is Khan, he was nominated for 17th Star Screen Awards as Best Child Artiste.
