T. P. Senkumar Biography 
T. P. Senkumar is an IPS officer from Thrissur, Kerala. He currently serves as the head of the Police Housing Construction Corporation since 31st May 2016. Since 31 May 2015 he served as the State Police Chief, and he was appointed to the position following the retirement of K S Balasubramaniam, who was serving the position till then. When LDF came into power in May 2016, following the reshuffles in state’s administration, Senkumar was axed and Lokanath Behera was appointed to the position. Senkumar expressed his dissatisfaction following this new shuffle, as only two years were left for his retirement.
He was born in Thrissur on 10 June 1957. He completed his graduation and Master’s degree from Christ College, Irinjalakuda. Later he completed LLB. He worked with Indian Economic Service before joining Indian Police Service in 1982. He got selected to IPS under Kerala Cadre in 1982 and started his career as ASP, Thalassery & Kannur. He served as ADC to the governor from 1991 to 1995 and for a brief period of one year he served as Kochi City Police commissioner (1995-1996). He received Presidents Medal for Distinguished service in 2009.
He was appointed IG, Police Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in 2004. Later he was appointed as MD of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation in 2006, Transport Commissioner in 2010 and ADGP, Intelligence in 2012. In 2014, he was appointed as the DGP, Prisons. He has investigated many prominent cases like LIS financial scam, Mangium, Teak and Goat scam, Vithura and Pandalam sexual assault cases, French spy case and the most recent Jisha murder case. When LDF came into power in May 2016, Jisha murder case was handed over to a new team. Thus Lokanath Behera was appointed as the new State Police Chief.
