T. Harish Rao Biography

T. Harish Rao is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Currently he is a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Siddipet constituency and is his third term as MLA. He is the nephew of veteran politician of Andhra Pradesh, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao. The famous social activist known for Telangana movement, K. Kavitha and K. T. Rama Rao, MLA for Siricilla Assembly Constituency are his cousins. He has played an active role in internal affairs of the party. His full name is Tanneru Harish Rao. Harish Rao plays a prominent role in Telangana movement right now and TRS Deputy Floor Leader in the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly.

Rao was born in Siddipet, Medak District. He completed his graduation from his hometown before joining active politics. He was elected from the Siddipet Assembly constituency in 2004 at a young age of 32. He had just entered active politics and very soon, he became an influential leader of the party. His involvement in social activities and Telangana agitation made him a popular leader among the masses. After the TRS legislators resigned from their Assembly seats in 2008, he stood as a contestant in by-poll elections and got re-elected in 2009.

TRS MLA’s resigned once again in 2010 giving reasons for the delayed process of Telangana formation as they have done in 2008. In 2010 by polls, he defeated Y S Rajasekhara Reddy by a huge margin. He believes that demanding Telangana is their birth right and he will fight till he achieves the goal. He has served as Minister of state for Youth services, Printing and Stationary department in YSR’s cabinet.
