Sweety Kapoor Biography 
Sweety Kapoor is a music and arts promoter from Delhi, currently based in London. She along with Talvin Singh and Bangladeshi artist DJ State of Bengal ran Anokha club night in various parts of London since mid-1990s promoting Asian Underground subgenre of music, developed by Talvin Singh. Asian Underground is said to deeply influence Bollywood music, Indi pop and Bangra music scene since 1990s, and its influence is still visible in Indian music industry. They released a compilation album, Anokha — Soundz of the Asian Underground in 1997, and also hosted Anokha at Fabric at Clerkenwell during 1999 - 2001.
Sweety Kapoor was born in Delhi. At the age of 4 her family shifted to London, where she was brought up. She came to limelight after she became the promoter of Talvin Singh’s Asian Underground genre of music, a fusion of Indian classic music with western elements which include drum and bass. Along with his promoter Sweety Kapoor, he started Anokha club night in 1995. They collaborated with DJ State of Bengal, and later composed many tunes which inspired millions. The trio ran Anokha club night in the second half of 1990s throughout early 2000s, which became immensely popular among the youngsters, especially Indians settled in UK.
From 1996 to 1999, they ran Anokha Club Nights, at a venue called Blue Note in Hoxton Square, London. Indie artists were given free opportunity to experiment and perform before audience at Anokha Club Nights. They also released a compilation album Anokha - Soundz of the Asian Underground in 1997. Apart from British pop and Bhangra, Asian underground music also influenced mainstream American hip hop, R&B and urban music in the 2000s. This genre of music also uses many traditional and relatively new instruments.
