Swati Sen Biography

Swati Sen is an Indian film actress who appears in off-beat and award winning movies. She is best known for playing lead roles in the National Award winning film Antardwand (2010) directed by Sushil Rajpal, and also award winning short Bhojpuri film Udedh Bun (2008) directed by Siddharth Sinha. Udedh Bun became the first Bhojpuri film to win Silver Bear for Best Short Film at Berlin International Film Festival in year 2008. It also fetched National Film Award for Best Short fiction Film. Antardwand (2010), the film based on the practice of groom kidnapping seen in Bihar won her Best Actress MAMI.

This talented actress hails from Nagpur, Maharashtra. She got attracted to acting when she got opportunity to become an active member of Dramatics Club, where she participated in street plays, full-length plays, stage shows etc. It was during her studies at Miranda House College, Delhi. To pursue acting, Swati studied acting at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.

As a film actress, she got the first break through 2007 Bollywood movie, It's Breaking News, where she played second lead aside Koel Purie. The movie was scripted and directed by Vishal Inamdar, and also starred Abhimanyu Singh in a pivot role. It was followed by Woh Subah Kidhar Nikal Gayi the same year. She bagged the female lead in Bhojpuri short film, Udedh Bun, which earned her recognition as a talented actress.

She was later seen in 2009 short film Andheri and 2009 Telugu film Sonta vooru, before she won yet another memorable through Sushil Rajpal’s debut flick, Antardwand. She played female lead opposite Raj Singh Chaudhary, and Vinay Pathak and Akhilendra Mishra played supporting roles.
