Swati Chitnis Biography

Swati Chitnis is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Hindi entertainment industry, apart from Marathi cinema. Swati appears in movies and TV serials, and is known for playing character roles onscreen. Shubhamangal Savadhan and Hee Porgi Kunachi are some of her recent appearances in Bollywood cinema. She was also seen in 2016 critically acclaimed and National award winning Marathi movie, Ventilator, where she joined a team of more than 100 actors. She is quite familiar to Hindi TV audience through the popular soaps aired on Star Plus - Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Her role of Suhasini Goenka in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was well appreciated.

 

Swati Chitnis is associated with entertainment industry since late 1990s. She is married to Amol Chitnis. She made her television debut in 1997 with the TV series, Paltan. Since then she has completed 2 decades in the television industry and still very active. Currently she mostly portrays mother roles on screen. Road to Sangam (2010), Jungle (2000) and Hee Porgi Kunachi (2006) are some of her filmy works. She played Mrs. Malhotra in Jungle. She was seen as Indu in 2016 Marathi blockbuster Ventilator.

 

She played the role of Suhasini Goenka, Kartik’s dadi in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Sasural Simran Ka and Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke are a few more television roles. She was seen in a pivot role in Bollywood film, Road To Sangam released in 2010. She is married to Commander Amol Chitnis. After first kid, they decided not to have more kids because they thought they would be able to bring up one child better. They wanted to give their son all their resources and time. Their son, now 25 years old is a commercial pilot.
