Swaroop Sampath Biography

Dr. Swaroop Sampath is a success television actress and model of 1980’s. She has also acted in a few Indian movies including Hindi. She was Miss India 1979 and has represented India at Miss Universe contest 1979. She is the wife of veteran actor of Bollywood – Paresh Rawal. She too is remembered for many memorable comic television serials of Doordarshan. As a Bollywood actress, her most noted works are Nakhuda (1981) and Naram Garam (1981). As a television actress, music countdown comic program, All the best telecasted in Doordarshan during middle 1990’s is one of her noted works. Other works are Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Yeh Duniyan Gazab Ki. She was also one of the top models of 1980’s. Ad of Shringar Kumkum (1980’s) is the most memorable one.

Swaroop was born in the year 1958. She has taken PhD in education from University of Worcester in England. Her thesis was on how to enhance life skills in children with learning disabilities and she is an expert in this subject as well. She became immensely popular with comedy show of Doordarshan - Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi where she played the role of wife of Shafi Inamdar. This particular serial made her a household name as well. She teaches acting to disabled children and also a trainer who conducts workshops all over India for teachers to teach such disabled kids. She was once selected by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to head an educational program for children.

Apart from being a trainer and actor, she also assists her husband Paresh Rawal in theatre works. She both acts and directs plays for him. A few of Hindi movies in which she appeared include – Saathiya, Himmatwala, Bahu ki awaz, Karishma and Khoon aur sazza.
