Swara Bhaskar Biography

Swara Bhaskar is a Bollywood film actress known for her supporting roles in Tanu weds Manu (2011) and Raanjhanaa (2013). She portrayed the role of Bindhiya in Raanjhanaa, a well appreciated role. Guzaarish, Chillar party, The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project, Aurangzeb, Sabki Bajegi Band,  Machhli Jal Ki Rani Hai, Mango and Listen... Amaya are other noted works. Her upcoming movie is titled – X. She received Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Female in the year 2011 for Tanu weds Manu. Same role gave her nomination at Filmfare awards as well as Apsara Award, both in supporting roles.

 
She was born in Delhi on April 9, 1987. Her father is a Telugu Naval officer, Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar and Bihari. Her mother Ira Bhaskar is a professor of cinema studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. She hails from Varanasi. She did her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi and studied English literature at Delhi University's Miranda House. Noted Bollywood actress Minisha Lamba was her classmate there. She did her post-graduation in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She was associated with N. K. Sharma's "Act One" theater group in Delhi, before joining movies.

 
She shifted to Mumbai in 2008 and the following year, her debut movie - Madholal Keep Walking was released. She also acted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzarish where she played the role of Radhika Talwar. Same year much acclaimed project – ‘The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project’ was released. This Hindi-English drama-thriller film, shot in Black and White was screened in Mumbai International Film Festival 2010 and competed in Transylvania International Film Festival, 2011. Yet it was through her role of Kangana’s friend in Tanu weds Manu, that she gained Indian audience appreciation.
