Swami Vachananand Biography

Swami Vachananand is a yogi, social activist and philanthropist from Karnataka. He is also a yoga instructor who regularly conducts yoga classes in Kannada regional TV channels. He also writes columns for 'Yuva Karnataka' magazine. On 21 June 2015 International Yoga day, he was invited by the chief minister of Karnataka to conduct mass Yoga programmes at Kanteerava stadium, attended by 10,000 participants including many Kannada celebrities and actress Shilpa Shetty. He founded Shwaasa Yoga center in 2012. He founded Shwaasa, a non-profit organization which offers yoga programs, and hence he is also known as Shwaasa Guru. He is an expert in yogic science and is a prominent spiritual leader, a philosopher.

 

Shwaasa Guru hails from Karnataka. He was born in a small village, Tanvashi of Athani Taluk, Belagavi District. He was sent to Sri Marulashankara Shivayogi's monastery at the age of 8 and was initiated to Sannyasa at a very tender age. He studied Yoga, Sanskrit, philosophy and ancient Indian scriptures during his stay with his guru. He went to the Himalayas to do austere practice of yoga. He followed Ashtanga Yoga as laid by sage Patanjali. Proper control of breathe can free you from tensions and diseases, that’s the main principle taught by Shwaasa Guru.

 

He is regular with yoga classes on television, and also writes columns on journals and magazines on the subject. He has been featured in “Yoga Yoga” slot of morning show of TV9 since 2009. He intends to bring happiness to common man’s life through practice of Yoga. Through his techniques he also counsels depressed and the disturbed minds. He has conducted thousands of innovative and specialized yoga events in different parts of the country.
