Sushmita Mukherjee is a film and television actress who appears in character and comic roles. She also portrays grey shaded roles. She played memorable roles in Bollywood movies like Golmaal, Rakht Charitra, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Sir, Khalnayak, Dillagi, Ugly Aur Pagli, Dostana, Good Boy Bad Boy, Intequam, King Uncle, Khoya Khoya Chand, Aaja Nachle, Sold, Paatsaala, Tere Sang etc. Her role as Dadi ji in comic blockbuster Golmaal (2006) is her most memorable role she portrayed on screen.

She is a successful television actress too. She played the role of Karamchand's assistant Kitty in popular series, Karamchand on Doordarshan in the 1990s. Karamchand was her first major break in the television industry, which gave her instant success and popularity. Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Housewife Hai Sab Jaanti Hai , Talaash, Tara, Raam Khilawan CM and family, Ghost Bana Dost, Kaahin Kissii Roz, Ise bahane, Kavyanjali, Kabhi Saas Kabhi Bahu and Gunwale Dulhania Le Jayenge are her other popular television roles. Her perfect timing in comedy makes her special among female comic actors. She played the character role of Avantika in Balaji Telefilm’s Kaahin Kissii Roz.

Sushmita Mukherjee was born in Kolkata, Bengal. She completed her college education at Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. She was first married to famous film director Sudhir Mishra. The couple got separated later. Sudhir married famous editor Renu saluja, while Sushmita married character artist cum politician, Raja Bundela, a member of Bundela Rajput royal family. Thus she is known as Rani sahiba. The couple is happily married and has two kids.
