Surabhi Santosh Biography

Surabhi Santosh is a budding actress associated with south Indian cinema. She is a trained dancer too. As of now, she has played lead roles in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada cinema. A Malayali girl, she marked her film debut with Kannada film, Dushta in 2011 playing lead role opposite Pankaj Narayan, the movie which launched director S. Narayan’s son as well. She marked her Tamil film debut with Aayirathil Iruvar in 2017 and Malayalam film debut with Kuttanadan Marpappa in 2018, both playing lead roles. Malayalam film, Kinavalli is her upcoming release.

 

Surabhi Santosh hails from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She holds a graduation as well as LLB degree. She is a trained classical dancer and performer, which helped her to get the first break in films. While she was performing at Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram a few years ago, she was spotted by wife of Omar Sheriff, producer of Malayalam movie Nivedyam. The producer was thinking of making Kannada remake of Nivedyam, and Surabhi well-fitted the role. However the project didn’t take off, yet he recommended her name to veteran Kannada filmmaker, S. Narayan. He was to launch his son Pankaj Narayan to film scene, and Surabhi was signed for the female lead in 2011. The movie titled Dushta was a box office flop, yet she bagged a film titled Jadayu from Kannada.

 

She bagged her first Tamil project, Aayirathil Iruvar very soon. But the movie had a delayed release only in 2017. By that time she bagged more projects from Kannada and Malayalam. In 2018, her Kannada film titled 2nd Half was released, in which she played parallel lead aside Priyanka Upendra. In 2014, Surabhi took a sabbatical to complete her LLB course, and currently pursuing a career in films.
