Surabhi Lakshmi Biography

Surabhi Lakshmi is a talented actress of Malayalam cinema known for portraying powerful character roles. She is also a theatre artist and has worked in two television serials. In 2010, she won the prestigious Kerala Sahitya Nataka Academy's best actress award for the play, ‘Yakshikathakalum Naattuvarthamanangalum, followed by Best Actress in Abudhabi Theatre Fest’.

Most recently she was seen in Malayalam blockbuster, “Ennu Ninte Moideen”, where she played the role of Kanchanamma’s maid who acts as a messenger of her love letters. She has also appeared in several advertisements. Puthiya Mukham, Ayaalum Jnanum Thammil, Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram, Thirakkatha, Pakal Nakshatrangal, Gulmohar, Katha Thudarunnu, Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal, The Train, Swapna Sanchari and Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty are some of her signature roles.

She was born in a beautiful village - Narikkuni in Kozhikode district. Since childhood she was hoisted on stage to perform by none other than her father Andy. That’s how an artist was born. Kalamandalam Satyavrithan was her first teacher who trained her classic dance for 10 years. In 2002-2003, she became Kalathilakam from Vadakara Vocational Higher Secondary where she completed her school studies. Then she completed BA in Bharathanatyam from Kaladi Sree Sankaracharya College and got first rank. It was her friends’ idea to send her photo to Grihalakshmi, a woman’s magazine for photo queen contest. She also completed MA in theatre and for the play ‘kannadi’ her team won South Zone National Youth Festival.

‘Sakharam Binder' by Vijay Tendulkar and ‘Erakalodu Mathram Samsarikkaruthu' are among her theatre works. The reality show - the ‘Best Actor‘ in Kairali channel was a real break to her career. Jayaraj's ‘By The People' was her first Big screen appearance, followed by ‘Gulmohar', ‘Thirakkatha', and ‘Kancheepurathe Kalyanam’. ‘Oru Kathayile Raajakumari' is her popular television series. She has been signed for ‘Kannadi Talkies’ where she plays veteran actor Sreenivasan’s sister on-screen. She now plans to start her Ph. D in theatre.
