Supriya Pilgaonkar Biography

Supriya Pilgaonkar is a successful Marathi actress and television actress, most famous for the comic role in Doordarshan metro channel, Tu tu mein mein. This serial was a comic look at the differences and affection between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. She is the wife of popular actor and director of Marathi and Hindi movies – Sachin Pilgaonkar. The couple is always given great respect in Marathi film industry and always regarded as reputed couple. She met Sachin Pilgaonkar while shooting for a Marathi movie Navri Mile Navryala, directed by Sachin.  They got married in 1985 when Supriya was only 18. Most recently the couple together has participated in the first season of Nach Baliye and has become the winners too. She made guest appearances in its later episodes and has hosted one episode of season 2 too. Most recently their daughter, Shriya has also entered Bollywood as an actress.

Supriya was born as Supriya Sabnis on 16 August 1967, in Mumbai. She debut Marathi movies during 80’s.  She has worked aside her husband in a series of successful Marathi movies like Navri mile Navryala, Majha Pati Karodpati, Ashi hi Banwa Banvi and Aaytya Gharat Gharoba. Surpriya’s Marathi drama, Mahatare Arka Baiyit Garka is also very popular. She has worked as supporting actress in a few Bollywood movies like Awara Paagal Deewana, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, Tuhje meri kasam, Aetbaar, Deewane Hue Pagal, Bluff master and Barsaat.

Majority of her successful serials belong to Doordarshan, through which she started her television career. Apart from Tu tu mein mein, she has also worked in Doordarshan serials like Kshitij Ye Nahin and Tu tota mein maina. Seeing the huge success of Tu tu mein mein in Doordarshan, its sequel was made in Star Plus. Here again she played the leading role. The serial was titled Tu Tu Main Main 2000 Series. Her other television serials include - Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, Kadvee Khattee Meethi, Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi Meri Bhabhi, Kabhi Biwi Kabhi Jasoos, Basera, Lakhon Mein Ek and Sasural Genda Phool. Apart from Nach Baliye, she has participated in reality shows like Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala and has made guest appearance in Star Ya Rockstar.
