Sunil Paul Co-Founder & CEO at Side.cr (SideCar) and San Francisco Bay Area Information Technology and Services is an Internet entrepreneur who has founded companies such as Brightmail and Freeloader.
Born: November 12, 1964 (age 50), Punjab, India. Paul was born in Punjab, India. At the age of 4 his parents immigrated to the United States where he was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Paul holds a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
Sunil Paul is an experienced entrepreneur and investor. He co-founded and run Sidecar, which uses smartphone technology to match drivers with a car with people nearby who need a ride and packages that need delivery. It fulfills a vision to rethink transportation to be more convenient, affordable, and sustainable. Sidecar is unlike Uber, which operates a marketplace where drivers set their prices, riders choose their driver.
Sunil Paul's Sidecar is the only company that combines people and packages in the same car, resulting in savings for both. Issued to Paul in 2002, Sidecar holds the US Patent No. 6356838 which covers a method for accepting a transportation request for passenger pickup, determining location and directing a vehicle to the requested location.
Prior to Sidecar Sunil Paul co-founded and ran companies like FreeLoader and anti-spam leader Brightmail. He started Spring Ventures which is an investor in companies like Linkedin, Solazyme, Sidecar, Solar Mosaic, Zeachem, One Roof, and Nanosolar. Incidentally, prior to moving to San Francisco, CA Paul has lived in Nashville, TN and Washington, D.C.
